Why Anyone can be a Superhero

Have you ever realized that you are capable of becoming a superhero? You can help save the world, small steps at a time. What I'm talking about is helping out the environment by recycling, taking care of trees and plants, and trying to walk or ride a bike whenever you can. Together we can all help save the world! 

So what is Recycling?

Recycling is when you take your garbage and you take it and turn it into something new. So instead of just having your trash lie around in a dump, you can help make it something new, and by doing this process you're actually helping out the environment. So why does it help the environment you might ask? Well for starters, we need to reduce the amount of waste in the world. When you throw your garbage away, it gets taken to a dump. This is where everyone's trash goes to rot. The second reason is that it help save important natural resources. Resources such as water or minerals are saved. The most important reason is that it prevents pollution. It prevents pollution because we don't have to go out and get new natural resources if we are able to reuse the ones we already have. Recycling is one of the biggest tools we have to help reduce pollution.


Benefits of Trees

Trees should be known as mans best friend. By planting and caring for trees, you help reduce pollution, lower energy costs, and help improve the appearance of your community. So how do tress help reduce pollution? They reduce pollution by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air, which is bad for the environment, increasing the amount of oxygen, and by eliminating certain toxins in the air. Trees also help lower energy costs. They lower energy costs because they actually lower the surrounding air temperature. So if you plant trees around houses they will make it cooler, thus helping you save money on air conditioning. They lower the temperature because they offer shade from the sun, and by using a process called transpiration. This is when water evaporates. The process produces the cooling effect of ten air conditioners! Finally, trees help improve the appearance of your community. Trees, when fully grown, are some of the most beautiful things nature has to offer. So why not plant a tree, it can only help.

Save Gas! 

What if I told you riding your bike with your friends can help save the world? Well it can! By riding bikes, or even just walking, you can help the environment because your conserving the amount of gas you use. When you drive in a car, it obviously uses gas to run, but the gasoline it uses only harms the environment. Gasoline produces carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and un-burned hydrocarbons, which are all bad for the environment. Did you know that burning a gallon of gasoline produces over 19 pounds of carbon dioxide. That is completely devastating to the environment. So go out and have fun with your friends by riding a bike or even just going on a walk. Try to conserve as much gas as possible. 

When it comes to being a superhero, you don't always need a cape, you just need a plan and you need to take action to help the world. There are no easier ways to help the world than to recycle whenever you have the chance, help plant tress, and to ride a bike or walk whenever you can with friends, or even by yourself. Every small step counts and it sure does help. Together we can all help accomplish one big goal of stopping air pollution.
